For the only anime watchers, in case you are not aware, the story of Zeff losing his leg is somewhat different in manga.

In manga, it is shown that Zeff smashes his own leg with a rock and eats it to stay alive.
Sanji's reaction to that is "Did you eat your own leg to stay alive?", to which Zeff replies, "Yes"

Why go all out against someone who is probably just an underling with many stronger superiors? He tried to defeat him using the least amount of power possible and it was not enough, even when he went all out he could not take him out as fast. That is why Luffy is called a miracle-worker, he always fights against people that are far stronger than him

His bounty is almost double Luffy's maybe higher than Doffy's bounty

also if u noticed the animation for king kong gun was the same exact as one against doffy, when he blew his arm up and was in that positoon, and then when he dashed forward to punch cracker same exact as doffy just different clothes and enemy and island
